THE Isle of Wight NHS Trust was caring for just three coronavirus patients at the end of March, figures show.

NHS England data shows the number of people being treated in hospital for Covid-19 on March 30, and the Island's St Mary's Hospital had three Covid patients.

It is a decrease from nine the previous week, 22 the month before that, and around 88 at its peak.

There were no patients on mechanical ventilators on March 30.

A total of 730 Covid patients have been treated at St Mary's since the start of the pandemic.

Of those, 151 patients died in hospital, 576 were discharged, and three remain in hospital.

All data is as of March 30, but there is sometimes a time lag and it is subject to re-adjustment.
