A 36-year-old man from Newport has been arrested today (Sunday) on suspicion of driving whilst over the prescribed limit of a controlled drug.
It follows a police investigation after a collision took place at 4.46pm yesterday (Saturday), on Ashey Road in Ryde where a BMW and motorcyclist collided.
The motorcyclist, a 17-year-old male, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Southampton General Hospital by air ambulance.
His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
The 36-year-old driver of the BMW was uninjured and has now been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
