THE promising Covid case trend has continued on the Isle of Wight today (Wednesday) according to the latest government data.

Public Health England figures released today reveal no new cases have been recorded, meaning the Island's cumulative total remains at 6,728.

Yesterday, one new case was confirmed, with none on Monday.

Despite this good news, the Isle of Wight's rolling rate has risen, as this is five days behind.

In the seven days up to March 26, per 100,000 people, the Island's rate was 16.9. Yesterday, it was 16.2.

It remains well below the UK rate of 55.4.

The most recent Covid related death on the Island was announced earlier today after being recorded on March 29 (Monday), at St Mary's Hospital.

It means 151 people have now died in hospital on the Island and in total, 280 people have died since March 2020.
