THE team at Newport’s Utilita Energy Hub have gifted an electric ride-on car to St Mary’s Hospital, to give children receiving critical care a chance to get in the fast lane.

Children on the ward will be able to ride it in dedicated 'breakout areas' and use it to get to and from treatment sessions.

Vanessa Flowers, head of quality governance at St Mary's, said: "A big thank you to the team at Utilita for the kind donation of an electric car to our paediatric ward.

“I know the children’s ward team will join me in thanking you for playing a part in improving the children’s experience.”

Katherine Allen, hub manager at the Utilita Energy Hub in Newport, added: “It has been an extremely challenging 12 months for the NHS and we wanted to bring a smile to the faces of children being treated.

"The donation is merely a small gift from the business to support the amazing nurses and doctors for everything they have done. We will continue help any local charities in need.”
