A death in hospital has been announced by the NHS today (Wednesday).

An Islander died on March 29, according to coronavirus data released by the government.

This was the first recorded death at St Mary's since March 15.

It means 151 people have now died in hospital on the Isle of Wight, after contracting Covid-19, since the start of the pandemic.

There have also been 130 deaths in the community, since March 2020.

This includes 116 care home deaths.

THE Isle of Wight's rolling Covid rate rose yesterday, despite daily case numbers remaining low according to the latest data.
