A BUMPER crop of Isle of Wight musicians are to line up for an online festival this Easter.

The Easter Island Music Eggstravaganza will bring performers from all over the Isle of Wight together for a four-hour internet show on Easter Monday afternoon.

Paul Armfield, Angelina and Panda Swim are among the artists scheduled to showcase their tunes from 1pm on Easter Monday.

Panda Swim will premiere songs from their debut LP, which will be released later this month as the first release on new label Wight Vinyl.

The event is being hosted by the Isle of Wight Music Showcase, a Facebook group set up by writer Joanne Thornton and AAA Records proprietor Andy Barding one year ago.

The group was formed to share and archive the many online performances being made by Wight musicians from the beginning of the pandemic last year.

Since forming, hundreds of music fans from all over the world have joined the group to watch live streams and archived video by Island musicians continuing to make music in their homes and outdoors.

Joanne said: "We're posting links to live events all the time on the Facebook page and through our YouTube channel, so I thought it would be brilliant to make a full afternoon of it, and get a load of local musicians to perform short sets for people to enjoy.

"Technology willing, we will be going live on Facebook at 1pm and continuing live until 4pm. I'm very excited and hope it could be the start of something good."

As well as the Facebook and YouTube streams, the event — or highlights of it — will also be aired as part of a special Tony P Radio Show on NCB radio.
