What is your full name?

Josie (Josiane) Luckermans

What area/town do you live in?

Lake between Shanklin and Sandown

Why did you take up photography?

After my move to the Island over 6 1/2 years ago, my partner, Mark got me a little pocket camera. As my love for nature and the Island grew it didn't take me long to get a dslr camera and I was hooked

Why do you love taking pictures?

I wanna preserve those precious and special moments. These moments would otherwise be gone. This way I can share them with others and let them see nature through my eyes. Things they wouldn't even notice otherwise.

Where is your favourite place to take pictures?

I love Hersey Nature Reserve, Brading Marshes, Newtown and St. Helens the Duver. But there are so many more places to go too. As I rely on buses, I'm a bit limited as to where I can go. As long as there's wildlife, I'm happy.

What equipment do you use?

I use my recently purchased Nikon d7200 a Nikkon 200-500mm lens. Best buy so far. I will need to start using my tripod more, as the lens is quite heavy

What is the favourite picture you have taken?

Hard to say. I'm not easily pleased when it comes to my pictures. If I had to pick one, it would be of a little egret, that landed in the reeds. His wings looked like angel wings.

Why did you join the Isle of Wight County Press Camera Club?

To see if my pictures where any good and find more people with the same passion. As I work in retail and sell the County Press, it's nice to have customers come in and say, hey Josie, nice picture this week

If you could photograph anyone or any place who/what would it be?

Besides on the Island, the puffins is Wales. And my number 1 on my bucket list, Scotland 's wildlife and amazing landscapes

Anything else you think we should know?

I hope that my pictures put a smile on someone 's face. Photography to me, is a passion and an ongoing learning process. I hope to do this for many years to come

What advice would you give anyone who wants to get into photography?

Start with a simple camera and see if you like it first. Be patient and don't expect that perfect shot straight away. Look in the most unusual places and thake loads of pictures. Don't be discouraged, if most of your pictures aren't what you wanted them to be. There's always a next time.
