BUSINESSES and organisations throughout Newport town centre are gearing up for a reopening in the coming weeks and welcoming customers and visitors back.

Part of that preparation is to make Newport town centre as 'blooming' colourful as possible, with Newport Business Association (NBA) teaming up with Care In The Garden to get the good vibes rolling.

The Blooming Well Together In Newport initiative is to invite businesses and organisations to display a hanging basket, supplied and even fitted as needed by Care In The Garden.

All baskets will be following a blue, yellow and white colour scheme. These are not only Newport FC colours, but also pay tribute to the NHS.

John Goodenough from Care In The Garden said: “We are delighted to be involved in this project and a chance to bring joy to people visiting Newport town centre.

"We’ve priced the baskets very modestly at just £25 and for just £10 more we’ll even fit it for you!“

To add more colour, several primary schools across the town have been involved in drawing and colouring their flowers.

This artwork will be displayed in shop windows throughout the town.

Coordinating the initiative is NBA member Fiona Brown, who owns The Dapper Chap on Upper St James Street.

Fiona said: “The process is really simple, just visit the NBA website where you can register your interest in taking a hanging basket and adding to the colour around the town.”
