The young winners of an Isle of Wight Easter card competition have been revealed.

Broadlea Primary's Eleanor Green took the top spot in the primary school category, while the secondary school winner was Eve Fleming, from Ryde Academy.

Abigail Warner, also from Ryde Academy, came second.

Leland Woodmore, Angel Masefield, and Jack Ashman took first, second and third in the Special School category, for St. George’s.

The teaching union NEU organised the competition, asking Island children to draw what they were most looking forward to after Covid-19.

Answers included seeing family and friends, holidays and trips to parks and beaches as well as collecting a pet from the mainland or being presented with a long-awaited football medal.

Entries were colourful, drawn with crayons or felt tips and they covered everything from digital designs to Origami, paintings and material.

Winners were given prizes, including a certificate and an Easter egg, alongside five copies of their own design as cards.

The winning designs will be sent out by teaching union members to Isle of Wight councillors, MP Bob Seely, and Hampshire and Isle of Wight local authority members.
