MORE investment opportunities could be investigated the future of Dinosaur Isle, as the Isle of Wight Council thinks again about what it is asking from investors.

The authority says it is confident of a successful outcome to the current process, as talks continue with the remaining bidder, but there are limited investment opportunities for the site.

Council officers say in a report that asking someone to take on the operation and maintenance of the building, in particular, 'may constrain' investment opportunity.

In 2017, the estimated repair bill for the buildings was £850,000.

To help regenerate the site further, and provide more investment prospects, it is recommending the scope of the tender be widened to fully explore commercial viability and ensure what is agreed tallies with the council's aims for the site.

The investment in Dinosaur Isle, the council hopes, will kickstart wider regeneration and further funding in the Bay area.

It is recommended the council's cabinet agrees to review the tender to better understand any issues holding back the site so that any further contracts can 'properly consider the full range of development and investment opportunities'.

The cabinet will make its decision at its next meeting on Thursday, March 11.
