Bothered, baffled and bewildered describes the confusion over why the prime minister is seen visiting schools, when so many of us are obliged to follow England’s stay at home order until at least March 29.

Recently, the news report him visiting schools (and a vaccination centre) in Stoke-on-Trent, East Lancashire and Lewisham.

When so many cannot enter schools, why is the prime minister visiting, presumably with an accompanying entourage and the press, when others cannot?

* Until the end of term, Ofsted will carry out monitoring inspections remotely. The exception being serious safeguarding issues.

* Parents dropping their young children at nursery or primary school have to remain outside.

* Senior education staff in the local authority meet online, as do I and many others.

Why does the prime minister feel it is acceptable to physically visit schools, when this work clearly could be achieved at home remotely? The only purpose appearing to be a photo opportunity.

Why have school bubbles, when the prime minister feels it is acceptable to move between educational establishments and bubbles with only a day apart?

Latest guidance still says: “The single most important action we can all take is to stay at home to protect the NHS and save lives. You should follow this guidance immediately. This is the law.”

It goes on to say: “go to work...if you cannot reasonably do so from home”.

It’s high time those in power followed their own advice and guidance: “Stay at home. Protect the NHS. Save lives.”.
