THE Isle of Wight's rolling average for Covid cases per 100,000 people is continuing to drop, according to daily data released by Public Health England.

There were four daily coronavirus cases reported today (Friday), and the rolling data, while five days behind, is still heading in the right direction and is among the lowest in the country.

Today's total brings the tally of confirmed Covid-19 cases on the Island, since the start of the pandemic, to 6,636.

The Island's seven day rolling average is now well below the UK rate. There were 42.3 per 100,000 in the seven days to February 21. The UK rate is also falling, and is at 114.

With no Covid deaths announced on the Isle of Wight since Tuesday, the total number of Isle of Wight Covid deaths currently stands at 261, with 140 in hospital, 110 in care homes, eight in private homes, one in a hospice and two elsewhere.
