A POLICE officer carrying out routine patrols in Shanklin on Saturday evening stopped a vehicle on St George's Road — and arrested the driver for drink driving.
The vehicle was stopped shortly before 8.40pm and the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level is above the limit and two counts of using a motor vehicle/trailer with a tyre with less than 1mm tread.
The driver, 34-year-old Mark Eastman, of Queens Road, Shanklin, was charged with those offences and has been bailed to appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court on Friday, March 12.
