A NEW baby in the family is always a happy event, but lockdown has meant it isn't possible to ensure everyone can meet the new arrival.

Babies can keep their parents so busy that there is little time to take photos and email them to friends or family, or share them to Facebook either.

With this in mind, the County Press has launched its New Arrivals feature and we are hoping new parents will send us pictures and details, so we can help them spread the good news.

This week we have loved seeing little Ivy Samantha Jean Greenough (main image above) who was born at St Mary’s Hospital, Newport, on September 23 last year.

Mum Robyn Greenough, from Ryde, said: “Ivy was born by an emergency C-section at just 31 weeks of pregnancy and weighed 3lbs 7oz. After a very traumatic time she is now five months old and doing well.”

Ivy’s adoring family is completed by dad David Greenough and big brother Jacob, who’s four.

Isle of Wight County Press: Holly at 5 weeks old.

Holly Downer is such a joy to her parents.

Holly Downer, pictured above aged five weeks old, was born on September 1 last year, weighing 6lbs 8ozs.

Mum Kirsty, of East Cowes, said: “Holly is our little rainbow baby, as I had two miscarriages, one in 2018 and another about seven months later. I went through a very hard time, suffering with severe depression and anxiety.

"I was in a very dark place which I thought I would never get out of and had given up hope. But here we are, rainbow shining bright!

"It was Christmas morning 2019 when my husband, David, and I found out I was pregnant, it was our best gift ever!

"Although we had thought about names before, this led to us having second thoughts, being Christmas, we thought 'Holly' seems the most fitting name. It seemed every time I went for a scan or appointment there was always a rainbow that day. I'm not normally superstitious but thought surely this is a good sign!

"Holly wouldn't show us if she was a girl or boy at first, she always had her big foot in the way, but we found out at 36 weeks she was a little girl.

"Holly was only two days overdue, contractions started and my labour was very quick, luckily we got there on time as the car didn't want to start at 3am in the morning!

"We’re so grateful for our beautiful daughter and love her so, so much.”

Isle of Wight County Press:

Welcome to the world, Billie-Mai!

Billie-Mai was born at St Mary’s Hospital on February 10 to parents Carly Knox and Adam Flesher of Newport.

Weighing 6lbs 14ozs, Billie-Mai is a sister to Ruby-Leigh and Bonnie.

Isle of Wight County Press:

Toby Page was born into a family of Harry Potter fans.

Bubbly boy Toby Page was born on January 18. Mum Hannah said:”We practised hypnobirthing throughout our pregnancy and were planning a home birth. However — because of the pandemic — unfortunately staffing issues meant that we had to go into St Mary’s Hospital. We had the most amazing experience at the hospital and are glad it happened that way now.”

"Contractions started in the early hours of the 17th and they were on and off throughout the day and into the night. My husband, Jamie, and I relaxed at home while waiting for things to escalate. Lots of baths and comedy films helped!

"At around 7am on the Sunday I had a feeling we were close so we made our way to the hospital where they had the birth pool room ready. We arrived about 8am. Jamie made the room feel as homely as possible and I relaxed while waiting for the birth pool to fill. I got into the birth pool at about 10am, at about 10.15 I felt it was time to start pushing and at 10.32am he was born! Welcome to the world Toby!

"Our midwife throughout our stay was Kat, she was an incredible support to Jamie and I and helped make it the positive birth experience we were hoping for."

Toby, from Shanklin, weighed 9lbs 13ozs and he also has a big brother, Henry, who is two.
