POLICE are appealing for dashcam footage or any witnesses after two people were injured in a car crash late last night (Saturday).

A car, with two passengers, collided with a tree at Hale Common near Arreton.

The Dorset and Somerset air ambulance attended, along with multiple emergency service personnel.

The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 20s, sustained serious, but not life threatening, head injuries and was taken to St Mary’s Hospital.

A passenger in the vehicle, a woman in her 30s, was taken to Southampton General Hospital with serious, but not life threatening, pelvis and spinal injuries.

Police said: "We were called at 10.28pm to a report of a single-vehicle collision.

"At approximately 10.20pm, a silver Ford Ka lost control on a downhill sweeping left hand bend and collided with a tree.

"The incident is currently under investigation.

"We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen anything.

"Perhaps you saw the vehicle in the moments leading to the collision or you have dashcam footage?

The road was closed for a time, but re-opened this morning.
