RYDE'S Theatretrain is offering free pre-recorded online classes to schools during lockdown.

The performing arts school has been running on the Island for close to 20 years and provides professional training to young people who want to be part of the industry.

Throughout the pandemic, Theatretrain has continued training students, as well as ensuring there are classes accessible to all children within the community.

A spokesperson for the school said: "Although we are physically closed, we remain very much digitally open and we hold live classes every Saturday morning, as well as the free pre-recorded ones.

"We are passionate about doing our bit for the community and feel that offering free classes is a step towards this."

Theatretrain releases weekly classes in dance, drama and singing via YouTube and its website.

Each class is ten minutes long, with 30 minutes of fresh weekly content. This is generally aimed at young people aged 6 to 18, although anyone is welcome to get involved.

The curriculum for the classes focuses on life skills as well as performance. These skills include communication, resilience and adapting to changes - something especially pertinent in the current Covid climate.
