Wightlink's Portsmouth Harbour to Ryde Pier Head FastCat foot passenger service remains suspended.

The operator's ticket acceptance arrangements with Hovertravel will continue until Sunday, March 28, but Wightlink will monitor changes to government travel guidelines before deciding on any return for the FastCats.

Customers with Wightlink tickets and passes now have no need to book in advance.

The operator says very few customers have been using the service during lockdown.

This is not the first time the FastCats have been suspended due to lockdown.

In mid-July, after restrictions were eased, Islanders returned to work on the other side of the Solent, and holiday makers began to arrive on the Isle of Wight, a petition was launched calling for them to resume.

Wightlink car ferries were stepped up on July 24, while the foot passenger service did not return until July 31.

Passengers are being told to travel via Hovertravel, or on the hourly car ferry from Fishbourne.
