A BUSINESSMAN and former president of the Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce has been charged with a string of child abuse offences.

Peter Guy Tomlinson, 63, of Baring Road, Cowes, is due before the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court tomorrow (Tuesday).

He is charged with six counts of paying for the sexual services of a girl aged under 13 ­— with one including bestiality.

He is also charged with paying for the sexual services of a girl aged under 18.

The charges relate to various dates between January 1, 2017 and October 10, 2019.

Mr Tomlinson is former president of the Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce and former owner of Betapak and children's play area JR Zone.

The business has since changed hands and is under new ownership.

He was also chief executive of IW business Education Destination, which arranges bespoke school visits to the Isle of Wight.
