ARMED police have been deployed to Fairway Holiday Park in Sandown this evening (Sunday).

A resident who lives near to the park reported seeing police entering the site at around 8.30pm, although further details have not yet been confirmed.

An officer at the scene later confirmed that a police incident was ongoing.

A caravan inside the park has police tape across it, with officers supervising the surrounding area.

A statement from the Hampshire Constabulary said: "(We) can confirm that armed officers have been deployed to an incident at Fairway Holiday Park in Sandown this evening (Sunday).

"No one has been injured and there is not believed to be any threat to the wider public.

"The incident remains ongoing and we will be in a position to update you with further details at a later stage."

UPDATE (February 15) 1pm: 

At 6.45pm, police received a report that three men had forced entry into a caravan at Fairway Holiday Park. One of them was reported to have had a handgun.
