A RYDE pensioner has been cleared of a rape allegation following a trial at the Isle of Wight Crown Court this week.
John Rust, 80, of George Street, had always denied the offences — one count of sexual assault and another count of rape of a child aged under 13.
His case was first brought before the court in January 2020 and scheduled for trial.
It took place this week and he was found not guilty.
