A MAN who was found unwell in his car has died this afternoon (Thursday), shortly after emergency services attended the scene.

Ambulance and police services were alerted shortly after 2pm, after receiving calls concerning the welfare of the man, reported to be in his 50s, who has pulled over to the side of Ashey Road in obvious distress. 

An emergency road closure was put in place this afternoon.

A spokesperson for the Hampshire Police said: "We were called at 2.08pm following concerns raised for the welfare of a man who was found unwell in a car on Ashey Road.

"Despite the efforts of emergency services personnel, the man, aged in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner."

The man’s next of kin have been contacted and are aware of the situation.
