Why have there been so many feuds or disagreements in Bembridge?

Is it caused by the social deprivation, the dependence on social housing or just something in the water?

The village appeared to me to be a relaxed and serene place when I used to cycle there to woo ( I think that’s the right verb?) my future wife.

The peace and quiet were only disturbed when the local MP and his fellow conspirator on the IW Council attempted to steal the harbour for personal gain. The locals suddenly awoke and ejected the disgraceful pair.

Recently, however, we have witnessed a series of feuds, disagreements and trench warfare between different factions living in this lovely village. Disagreements about Captain Stan’s shop and its future reached such a level that one parish councillor received a white feather and resignations seemed common.

Now we have three separate organisations feuding and name calling about the development of the harbour itself.

I don’t know all the rights and wrongs about this but now there is a proper marina, related local employment and dredging has increased and there are so many more boats visiting Bembridge.

Now I read two more local councillors are resigning! Over what? Covid regulations? Planet warming? — No, it’s about the roof of the local council building!

Really? The roof probably does need replacing because of the damage caused by the all the hot air rising from recent council meetings!

Can I suggest that all the stroppy members of all the feuding factions in Bembridge agree to meet in the Crab and Lobster when Covid allows.

If they can’t agree to differ, shake hands or compromise at least they might decide about what they will argue about next?
