An Isle of Wight weather forecaster is warning of ice tonight (Thursday), as skies clear and temperatures drop.

Close to, or below, freezing temperatures will lead to a widespread frost, says the Isle of Wight Met Service.

Surface water will quickly freeze and could form black ice on untreated roads, which is very hard to see and can mean dangerous driving conditions.

Weatherman Jamie Russell says the risk will be higher where water runs off the fields.

He has issued a weather warning, which will be in force from 10pm tonight until 11am tomorrow (Friday).
