An early oil painting of Cowes is due to go to auction next week - and could sell for around £15,000.

The work is attributed to British artist John Tobias Young and is called "Cowes in the Isle of Wight.”

Young is believed to have been born in Wiltshire, in 1755.

He died in Southampton, in 1824.

Presented as an oil on canvas, with an inscription, it is listed with a guide price of between £10,000 and £15,000.

Farnham-based auction house, Parker Fine Art, has it as lot 36 in a virtual sale, on Thursday January 21, starting at 11am.
