Shanklin's St Blasius Academy pupils, from years 3, 4 and 5, are self-isolating.

It follows the news that three people from the school's community have tested positive for Covid-19.

Staff members must also stay at home and cannot return to school, which is open to the children of keyworkers and for vulnerable children.

They are due back in class on Monday January 18.

All of those who need to self-isolate have been informed, the Isle of Wight Council has confirmed.

The school remains open for all other qualifying children and for those teaching staff who are not isolating.

Principal Nicki Mobley, said: “We remain absolutely committed to the health, safety and wellbeing of our academy community and we will carry on working closely with Public Health England to ensure we are taking all the necessary precautions.”
