ANOTHER death has been recorded at St Mary’s Hospital, of a Covid patient.

The patient died on January 6 and is the ninth hospital Covid death since the start of January.

It takes the total number of Covid deaths in hospital on the Isle of Wight to 65, while a further 51 in the community take the Island's total to 116.

January has already seen more hospital Covid deaths than in December, which had eight deaths.

The government records information on patients who have died in English hospitals within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19, or where Covid-19 was mentioned on a death certificate.

Earlier this week, chief executive of the IW NHS Trust, Maggie Oldham, said there were up to 60 Covid patients in St Mary's.
