As Island Line prepares to close down for three months of refurbishment and renovation, we present your pictures of the Ryde to Shanklin network, from the past 30 years.

We asked you to share your photos of the trains that have been carrying passengers along the stretch of rail network since 1989 - and you absolutely did not disappoint!

Until 2020, the Class 483s have proved to be work horse for commuters, school children and tourists.

They retire tomorrow (Sunday) and from Monday, replacement buses will run along the route instead, until the work is complete.

New trains (in pictures: arriving on the Isle of Wight), will run from the spring, after improvements worth £26 million are made to the line, by operator South Western Railway.

There are some terrific photos above, meanwhile David Drury is such a fan, he has set up a Flickr site HERE.

The transport firm is also looking for pictures - so if you shared one with us, perhaps you'd like to share it with SWR too?
