When Island Line closes this weekend, marking the start of three months of work and the arrival of replacement trains, the workhorses of the network will retire.

A project worth £26m, funded by the Department for Transport, Isle of Wight Council and the Solent Local Enterprise Partnership will see the renovation of the line that carries Islanders and tourists to home, work, school and on holiday.

New Class 484s will eventually run between Shanklin and Ryde, when the South Western Railway network reopens in the spring.

The existing 82-year old Class 483 fleet, originally built in 1938 for the London Underground, will retire.

They have served the Isle of Wight since 1989 - so you're bound to have used them at least once!

One is heading to a heritage line in Essex, another is rumoured to be going to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway's Train Story exhibit.

The Isle of Wight County Press wants your photos of Island Line's outgoing trains for a celebratory picture gallery! Share them using the link below!
