An emergency appeal has been launched, by an Isle of Wight-based charity, to raise funds for aid to be shipped to Croatia, after a 6.4 magnitude earthquake.

A 12-year-old girl died when the quake hit a town near the capital Zagreb earlier today (Tuesday), demolishing buildings.

A 5.2 magnitude quake rocked the area yesterday.

The Island's Roll Out The Barrel Trust is best known for handing out roll-along water barrels - a simple but ingenious solution for people forced to carry water miles, in searing temperatures, or through muddy fields.

Run by Adrian Brewer, Roll Out The Barrel also hands out life-saving mosquito nets.

Now, Adrian wants our support to transport aid from the Isle of Wight to Croatia - to help those affected by the earthquakes.

An appeal to fund the journey is now live.

Adrian said: "Earthquakes are devastating.

"Apart from the loss of life, the biggest issue is services and the loss of personal belongs - simple things like shoes, toothbrushes, eye glasses, kitchen items, gloves scarves and coats. "This fund will collect and distribute through partners in the country, including Rotary Clubs and Rotaract, as much aid as we can collect in a month.

"The biggest expense is the shipping.

"Help if you can. We will get your donation there pronto."
