The Island's horse-owners and dog-owners have been having plenty of seasonal fun with their pets and their colourful costumes have put a smile on lots of people's faces.

From riders and horses in Christmas outfits to dogs modelling Santa hats and reindeer antlers, they have all looked the part and left us feeling Christmassy.

We love Kim Maisey's Border Collie, Blue (in main picture, above), who is a master at sniffing out her hidden Christmas presents and opening them before Christmas - especially if it's a ball! Kim also owns Jack, a 19-year-old ex-riding school horse, who will kisses for treats!

We were also struck by the pictures of Newport-based dressage rider Charlie Adkins, who decorated his pony, Roseberry Sir Henry, instead of the tree in a moment of 2020 madness. Charlie's mum, Sophie, also sent in a picture of Charlie looking suitable elfish while riding Abbottswood Zeus (for Zeus's picture, see the gallery above).

Isle of Wight horse-riders were able to enjoy a few Covid-safe dressage and showjumping events just before Christmas and there was plenty of tinsel, Christmas jumpers and Santa-style exercise rugs and leg-wraps about - we loved seeing pictures of Vicky Lacey's horse, Echo, with Vicky's boyfriend Martin Farrell jumping festive-themed obstacles at a recent showjumping event.

Vicky said: "We got Echo as a four-month-old foal so she has grown up with us. She is nine now and she will be with us forever."

Riding high in the cute stakes is Sandie Norris's one-year-old Cockerpoo, Amber, who has been the family's saviour over this difficult year and is always doing something to make everybody laugh.

Meanwhile the pictures of Lindsay Tuckwell's Cocker Spaniel and Boston Terrier, Darcey and Suki, also made us smile and Lindsay says the two dogs are both six and neither can do any tricks - they are both disobedient but special.

We also couldn't help but love the photo of Shannon Roper and four-legged friends Georgia, Toffee and Fudge, who did a Christmas ride around Binstead just before Christmas, to bring the festive spirit to the end of 2020.
