New pizza place opens in Newport

Saint Pizza can be found in Pyle Street, opposite TK Maxx and Co-op.

Chef Alex Petrov has lots of experience in making pizza and was happy to dish up free samples to passers-by on Tuesday, the day before it officially opened.

The idea is to choose your basic woodfired base, sauce and cheese, then customise your pizza by adding your choice of toppings.

There are vegetarian and vegan options too, with vegan cheese on the menu — and many of the veggie toppings are a free extra.

With the Isle of Wight being in Tier One, the restaurant is able to be open for table bookings, or takeaways.

Being near the Wheatsheaf Pub, there is also the option of sitting in the pub and ordering in a takeaway pizza.
