PANTO is back for Christmas at Shanklin Theatre — and the County Press has teamed up with Spotlight IW to give away tickets.

One lucky reader will win four tickets to see the show, along with complimentary ice-creams, drinks and signed programmes.

Spotlight is performing a new version of Rapunzel. The story of the girl with impossibly long hair is a real family favourite, and the actors can't wait to welcome socially-distanced audiences to see the show.

Kidnapped by a wicked witch (Traci Stockman) when she was only a baby, Rapunzel (Rowan Lathey) has spent her whole life locked at the top of a tower.

Watch her tell the tale of her daring attempt to escape, a dashing prince (James Derbyshire) looking for adventure, a mother's (James Pellow) desperate search to find her missing daughter, the bungling detectives (Dominic Pope and Jayne Derbyshire) she hires to help her, and the worst witch in the world who is determined to keep Rapunzel for herself.

A Spotlight spokesperson said: "Our pantomimes have a reputation for being wonderful entertainment for the whole family and we can promise this year, despite everything going on, will be no exception.

"Spotlight and the staff at Shanklin Theatre are doing everything to make sure your visit will be safe and welcoming. All the traditional aspects of pantomime will be present plus many surprising twists and turns. And yes, there's a messy scene.

"So please join us this Christmas and enjoy the singing, the dancing, the jokes, the mayhem and the magic of Rapunzel, the most hair-raising adventure of them all. (Come on, we had to have one bad pun. Oh yes we did)."

Rapunzel opens on December 19 with various performances until January 3.

On December 29 at 1pm, there is a specially adapted 'relaxed show' to suit people with additional needs, which will be signed using British Sign Language.
