YEAR 11s at Christ the King College in Carisbrooke have to isolate due to a positive case of coronavirus at the school.

It means students won't be back until the new year and will miss the school's pre-Christmas festivities.

Nine teachers are also self-isolating.

A letter went out to parents and carers today (Saturday).

It said: "We have been advised by Public Health England that there has been a confirmed case of

Covid-19 within the school.

"We have followed the national guidance and have identified that your child has potentially

been in close contact with the affected student.

"In line with the national guidance we recommend that your child now stays at home and self-isolates until Friday, December 18.

"We are asking you to do this to reduce the further spread of Covid-19 to others in the

community.

"If your child is well at the end of the 14 days period of self-isolation, then they can return to

usual activities, on December 19.

"Other members of your household can continue normal activities provided your child does not

develop symptoms within the 14 day self-isolation period."

The rest of the school is unaffected.

It is the latest in a series of cases at the school.

On November 20, we reported that 27 sixth form students and three staff members at the school were self-isolating.

Just days beforehand, Year 10s had to work from home due to staff shortages.

And in late September, the school suffered two positive Covid-19 cases, which were not thought to be linked.

One was a member of the support staff and the other was a pupil.
