THE number of confirmed Covid-19 cases recorded for the Isle of Wight has increased again today (Saturday) - but only by two.

A further two cases take the cumulative total to 990 since the start of the pandemic, but the rolling seven-day average is reducing as we move through early December.

See the graph below from Public Health England. Data from December is incomplete but showing a reduction in daily cases.

Isle of Wight County Press:

There have been 20 cases on the Isle of Wight in December so far, after 342 were recorded in November — more than any other month to date.

These are all cases of people registered on the Isle of Wight.

The Isle of Wight is third from bottom, on a list of the rolling seven-day averages of new Covid-19 cases, in England.

The figures, for the seven days to November 28, are based on tests carried out both in laboratories and in the wider community.

Last month five Covid related deaths were recorded at St Mary's Hospital in Newport.

The last reported death was on November 25, taking the total number of hospital deaths to 48.

In total on the Island, 97 people have died from a Covid-related condition, with 45 in care homes, 3 at home and 1 in the hospice.

The Island is now in Tier One. Find out why.
