I HAVE just left St Mary’s Hospital at 4.35pm to return to the West Wight.

What a major failure in road design.

I pulled out of the hospital and the traffic jam caused by the lights was backed up with traffic coming from Cowes. I had to cross two lanes of solid traffic to get to the outside lane to get to Forest Road.

It was the worst driving experience I have had as the distance is so small between the hospital and the right turn is an accident waiting to happen as nobody coming from Cowes wanted to give way to allow such a dangerous manoeuvre to take place in the dark.

Surely whoever designed this should never design another road and the IW Council who approved this fiasco should be removed for allowing such a dangerous situation to be built.
