THE Isle of Wight Fire Service received an unusual request this morning after a call from the RSPCA.
A crew from Cowes was asked to visit Fellows Road in the town to assist a herring gull which had become entangled on a roof.
The bird was tangled in fishing line and had snagged on cables on the pitched roof.
A ladder and net were used to free the bird, which was then handed over to the RSPCA.
A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Fire Service confirmed they received the call at 11.22am, and released the bird shortly before noon.
