THE number of confirmed Covid-19 cases recorded for the Isle of Wight has increased again today (Sunday).

A further six cases, on top of yesterday's three, take the cumulative total to 965 since the start of the pandemic.

There have now been 337 cases on the Isle of Wight this month (November) ­— more than any other so far this year.

These are all cases of people registered on the Isle of Wight.

In October, 160 coronavirus cases were recorded ­— a far cry from the 19 cases in March, when the data record started.

Earlier this week, a new death was recorded at St Mary's Hospital, the fifth this month.

The person died on November 25, taking the total number of hospital deaths to 48.

In total on the Island, 97 people have died from a Covid-related condition, with 45 in care homes, 3 at home and 1 in the hospice.
