STAFF and residents at Barchester’s Orchard House care home in Newport felt the love on World Kindness Day, earlier this month.

Residents got into the spirit of the day, making gratitude jars for children at Summerfield’s Primary School.

Angela Harding, head of lifestyle at Orchard House, said: “The children had drawn pictures and sent letters to our residents and each jar had an inspirational poem about kindness inside.

"We have a varied life enrichment programme which keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to their interests and abilities."

Celebrated annually on November 13, World Kindness Day focuses on the idea of people being nicer towards each other by carrying out simple acts of kindness for someone else.

The day’s ultimate goal is to increase the value society places on kindness.
