A WOMAN has been charged with drink driving following a car crash in Ryde this morning.

Isle of Wight Police said the accident happened in the early hours, on the junction of Alexandra Road and St John's Hill.

The car, a Suzuki, had collided with a wall of a residential property.

Police said the driver was nearly three times the drink drive level, with a reading of 101 in breath when the legal limit is 35.

Mandy Owen, 54, of Mill Street in Newport, has been charged with drink driving and will appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on December 18.
