THE Isle of Wight Zoo in Yaverland is asking for help to cover the costs of caring for a new family of lynx who are now settling into the environment.

Mum Daenerys, her four year-old son Tyrion and daughter Nymeria are now settling into an area which was lying dormant in the sanctuary.

It is the first time the big cats have been on the Island.

A statement from The Wildheart Trust, which is based at the zoo, said: " The animals had to be removed from another collection in the UK and will now find their forever home here on the Isle of Wight.

"Having been plummeted into another Lockdown period (we are now faced) with no funds coming through the door.

"It's always our privilege to be in a position to be able to respond to animals in need but we’re only able to do this, especially during these economically challenging times, thanks to the generous support we receive.

"We would be eternally grateful for any donations or shares on social media."

A Crowdfunder page has been set up for people wanting to make a donation to the cause.
