THE floating bridge is due to return to service tomorrow (Monday), the Isle of Wight Council has announced.

While repairs and inspections are already complete, due to exceptionally bad weather, including strong tides and winds, the council says it is inadvisable to resume the service until conditions improve and the vessel can land safely.

Last weekend, the service had been suspended due to another technical fault.

The council had hoped the link between Cowes and East Cowes would be up and running by Tuesday, but additional work was needed for the vessel to return to service.

The floating bridge is now due to re-enter service at 5am tomorrow.

A launch remains in operation, though passengers are advised to avoid the crossing around high tide or ensure they have adequate footwear.
