Broadlea Primary is the latest Island school to report a positive case of Covid-19 - though its pupils do not need to isolate, parents have been told.

The person who tested positive had not been in the Sandown school for seven days, which means it remains open as normal to all pupils.

The school said: "Due to the timeframes involved since the person was last in school, Public Health England have advised that no further action is required.

"Parents and families can be reassured that all recommended precautionary actions have been taken."

Ten schools on the Isle of Wight have reported cases of coronavirus in recent days, with scores of children sent home to access lessons remotely.

The requirement to self-isolate depends on each individual circumstance and decisions are made after advice by Public Health England.

Headteacher Sharon Freeley confirmed the school had 'rigorously' followed the advice of Public Health England.
