A MAN left court £199 poorer after admitting possession of cannabis.

Dylan Colvin, 19, of Bernard Road, Cowes, appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

Liz Miller, prosecuting, said Colvin had been stopped and searched on September 21, under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

He told police officers he was in possession of a small amount of cannabis, for his own personal use.

Keith Verrinder, defending Colvin, said: "All I need to say about the situation is about income. Colvin is on Universal Credit."

Magistrates fined him £80, and ordered him to pay a £34 surcharge and £85 costs.
