SANTA will be returning to Havenstreet this Christmas for his popular annual visit to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway.

Tickets for Santa Specials are on sale now via the Railway’s website, and Father Christmas will be in his new cosy grotto on all weekends in December.

This year the event is Covid-safe, says the Isle of Wight Steam Railway.

This year's visit to Santa will be a more traditional affair.

With a fruity mocktail, mince pies and a distinctively Victorian feel, Father Christmas will be taking up residence inside one of the restored carriages in Train Story, the Railway’s undercover, interactive museum.

General manager, Steve Backhouse, said: "Here at the Steam Railway we have endeavoured to bring visitors safe and enjoyable events and experiences since reopening in July.

“In these uncertain times, passengers can book with the guarantee of a full refund in the event government restrictions continue beyond December 2, or if a member of your party was required to self-isolate.

"Alternatively, if lockdown continues a little longer into December and you would still like to visit Santa at the Railway, we will do our best to accommodate visitors on a later train that month.”

It starts on December 5 and booking is essential, with limited tickets available.
