A 19-year-old man has been stabbed in the leg - prompting an appeal for witnesses.

A Cowes footpath remained cordoned off this morning (Monday) - more than 12 hours after police were called to the scene.

Officers are investigating a serious assault on Sunday November 8, at around 9pm.

Police say the man was assaulted by two males, on a footpath linking Newport Road to Fraser Close, near the junction with Arctic Road.

His injury is serious but not life-threatening injury, say police.

In a statement, the force said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed or heard anything in the area at this time, or perhaps captured anything or anyone acting suspiciously on Dash Cam whilst driving past.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting 44200433764."
