Binstead Primary has warned parents of a confirmed case of Covid-19, however the school remains open to most pupils - and those who are affected have been contacted.

The school has confirmed that 33 students and five members of staff are isolating and says it is working with Public Health England.

In texts and emails, it said families of "the small number of children who have been in close contact with the individual who has tested positive for coronavirus have recieved a letter informing them that their child must stay at home for 14 days."

In a statement sent to the County Press, Headteacher, Rebecca Chessell said: "Students, parents and staff have all been informed.

"The school has rigorously followed the advice of Public Health England, accessed through the Department for Education official advice service, and 33 students in Year 1 and Year 4 and five members of staff will be self-isolating, with a return to school date of Wednesday 18 November.

"The school remains open for all other students.

“I want to reassure parents, students and staff that we have stringently followed public health guidelines.

“It is important that we continue to provide high quality education to all of our students and those that are asked to self-isolate will continue to receive their education remotely.”

Non-isolating children should attend school as normal.
