The County Press's new Facebook group, We Grew Up on the Isle of Wight, is proving to be a big hit with readers and since it was launched by the County Press last month, it has attracted more than 2,600 members.

We would love to see pictures of all your favourite memories of the Isle of Wight - from old school pictures to family picnics, and from carnivals to places of interest as they were a few decades ago.

We particularly loved seeing Graham Lee's collection of pictures of the old yellow school buses - who remembers riding round on these?

Who remembers the many piers which used to adorn the Isle of Wight's favourite beaches? Many are now gone, including Cowes, Seaview and Shanklin - the latter blew down in the Great Storm of 1987. Liz Cosgrove reminded us that Ventnor once had the beautiful Royal Victoria Pier, which was sadly badly damaged by fire in 1985 and was demolished in the early 1990s.

There also have been lots of fond memories of Ryde - including the teachers of Caversham House School, which is where Dover Park Primary School is now. Did you know the British Olympic and Commonweath Games medal winning heptathlete, Kelly Sotherton, was a former pupil of Caversham House?
