A NUMBER of takeaway enterprises have continued to serve the Isle of Wight during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Chinese cuisine is among the most ordered on the Island, with plenty of eateries for consumers to choose between.

We have selected our choice of five of the best Chinese takeaways on the Island, based on TripAdvisor and hygiene ratings.

1. Petesaria — School Green Road, Freshwater.

A hybrid restaurant specialising in Chinese, Italian and British cuisine, Petesaria boasts a beer garden and uses fresh, local ingredients where possible.

Chinese herbs and fresh vegetables are at the core of a mouthwatering menu, with Petesaria fusing exquisite flavours with perfect seasoning in their traditional Chinese dishes.

Free delivery is available on orders of at least £12 to people in Freshwater, with a fee applied for delivery elsewhere.

Dietary specific options

As well as the meat, fish and egg based dishes on offer, Petesaria is one of the few Chinese restaurants with a separate vegan menu. With all food prepared freshly, the kitchen is able to cater for most needs.

2. Royal China — High Street, Sandown.

If freshly cooked food in a stunning setting is your bag, then look no further than Royal China.

There is a takeaway menu available, and for those who can stand the heat the Tom Yan soup is a must have as the winter months approach.

Food can be eaten in or collected, with no delivery service.

Additional deals include free prawn crackers on orders above £15, free Beer on orders over £25, and free wine on Orders in excess of £55.

Royal China serves a variety of vegan and vegetarian dishes.

3. Kimbo's — Sandown Road, Lake.

A mammoth 248 dishes give customers plenty of food for thought at this humble Lake based fast-food outlet.

Highlights include a sublime chef special trio of Yum Yum, Luv Luv and Giggily chicken, and Singapore noodles.

The takeaway is acclaimed for its efficient and professional service. Food is pick-up only, with no home delivery offered.

A vegetarian friendly menu is supplemented with a smattering of made-to-order gluten free and vegan alternatives to the generally meaty fare.

4. Chia Wing — Carisbrooke Road, Newport.

Chia Wing is a little off Newport's beaten track.

Highlights of an eclectic 190-strong menu with more than 20 specials include the cooked fried chicken, prawn dishes and tangy spring rolls.

Staff are friendly and welcoming and dishes can be ordered as takeaway, although no delivery is available.

Vegetarian dishes aplenty, although those wanting vegan and coeliac friendly food are limited to rice or rice noodles.

5. Golden Dragon — Birmingham Road, Cowes.

Unassuming, bijou takeaway tucked away from the main parade, Golden Dragon offers a more refined menu than many other Chinese takeaways on the Island, with around 100 options available.

The food is packed with flavour and comes in at good value. Standout dishes include the succulent and spicy crispy shredded beef, and saporous crispy duck.

Delivery is available in Cowes for people spending at least £12.

A host of vegetarian options are available. Gluten free dishes can be requested and prepared separately.
