I wonder if Isle of Wight Council leader Dave Stewart, tourism chief Will Myles and director of public health Simon Bryant, have given a moment's thought to how insulting and hypocritical their plea is, to ‘Keep our Isle safe’ (CP, 16-10-20).

Hasn’t the IW Council been instrumental in promoting Island tourism, with the very real possibility this will re-seed this deadly coronavirus virus back on to our Island with a vengeance, resulting in a potential runaway increasing infection rate?

If this happens, you can wave goodbye to any Island economy.

Never mind about all the hand clapping, my heart goes out to our brave NHS staff and care workers, who will be at the forefront of tackling any second wave, while no doubt this hapless trio will be hiding under their desks.
