A DEATH of someone with coronavirus, in an Isle of Wight care home, has taken the Island's death total from Covid-19 to 90.

The death was registered in the week leading up to October 9, according to the Office of National Statistics' latest update.

Exactly half the Island's Covid-19 deaths have been in care homes — 45 of the 90 deaths.

An increase of nine cases recorded yesterday (Monday) took the cumulative total of Isle of Wight cases to 542, since the pandemic began.

Of those, 65 cases have been recorded this month (October).

There is no data available on recoveries — and some people have symptoms for longer than others.
